10:26 But Peter helped him up, ¹  saying, “Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.” ²

13:38 Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this one ³  forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,

[10:26]  ² tn Although it is certainly true that Peter was a “man,” here ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") has been translated as “mere mortal” because the emphasis in context is not on Peter’s maleness, but his humanity. Contrary to what Cornelius thought, Peter was not a god or an angelic being, but a mere mortal.

[13:38]  ³ tn That is, Jesus. This pronoun is in emphatic position in the Greek text. Following this phrase in the Greek text is the pronoun ὑμῖν (Jumin, “to you”), so that the emphasis for the audience is that “through Jesus to you” these promises have come.
