Acts 1:18
Context1:18 (Now this man Judas 3 acquired a field with the reward of his unjust deed, 4 and falling headfirst 5 he burst open in the middle and all his intestines 6 gushed out.
[9:1] 1 tn Or “Saul, making dire threats.”
[9:1] 2 tn The expression “breathing out threats and murder” is an idiomatic expression for “making threats to murder” (see L&N 33.293). Although the two terms “threats” and “murder” are syntactically coordinate, the second is semantically subordinate to the first. In other words, the content of the threats is to murder the disciples.
[1:18] 3 tn The referent of “this man” (Judas) was specified in the translation for clarity.
[1:18] 4 tn Traditionally, “with the reward of his wickedness.”
