[9:22]  1 tn Heb “he instructed and spoke with me.” The expression is a verbal hendiadys.

[10:21]  2 tn Heb “a book of truth.” Several English versions treat this as a title of some sort (cf. NIV, NCV, TEV, CEV, NLT), although the NAB’s rendering “the truthful book” regards “truth” as an attributive adjective, as does the present translation.

[10:21]  3 tn The word “princes” is supplied for clarity.

[10:21]  4 tn The pronoun is plural in Hebrew, suggesting that Michael is the angelic prince of Daniel and his people.

[12:7]  5 tn Or “to the heavens.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heavens” or “sky” depending on the context.

[12:7]  6 tc The present translation reads יַד־נֹפֵץ (yad-nofets, “hand of one who shatters”) rather than the MT נַפֵּץ־יַד (nappets-yad, “to shatter the hand”).

[1:9]  7 tn Heb “messenger” or “angel” (מַלְאָךְ, malakh). This being appears to serve as an interpreter to the prophet (cf. vv. 13, 14).

[2:4]  8 sn That is, to Zechariah.

[2:4]  9 tn Heb “Jerusalem will dwell as open regions (פְּרָזוֹת, pÿrazot)”; cf. NAB “in open country”; CEV “won’t have any boundaries.” The population will be so large as to spill beyond the ancient and normal enclosures. The people need not fear, however, for the Lord will be an invisible but strong wall (v. 5).

[1:14]  10 tn Grk “sent for service for the sake of those.”

[22:16]  11 tn On this expression BDAG 892 s.v. πρωϊνός states, “early, belonging to the morning ὁ ἀστὴρ ὁ πρ. the morning star, Venus Rv 2:28; 22:16.”
