[31:1]  1 tc For the MT reading וַיֵּלֶךְ (vayyelekh, “he went”), the LXX and Qumran have וַיְכַל (vaykhal, “he finished”): “So Moses finished speaking,” etc. The difficult reading of the MT favors its authenticity.

[31:1]  2 tn In the MT this refers to the words that follow (cf. NIV, NCV).

[12:1]  3 tn Heb “fathers.”

[12:1]  4 tn Heb “you must be careful to obey in the land the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess all the days which you live in the land.” This adverbial statement modifies “to obey,” not “to possess,” so the order in the translation has been rearranged to make this clear.

[28:9]  5 tn Heb “the commandments of the Lord your God.” See note on “he” in the previous verse.

[28:9]  6 tn Heb “and walk in his ways” (so NAB, NASB, NIV, NRSV, NLT).

[28:20]  7 tn Heb “the curse, the confusion, and the rebuke” (NASB and NIV similar); NRSV “disaster, panic, and frustration.”

[28:20]  8 tn Heb “in all the stretching out of your hand.”

[28:20]  9 tc For the MT first person common singular suffix (“me”), the LXX reads either “Lord” (Lucian) or third person masculine singular suffix (“him”; various codices). The MT’s more difficult reading probably represents the original text.

[13:5]  10 sn A quotation from Deut 31:6, 8.
