Deuteronomy 32:12

32:12 The Lord alone was guiding him, ¹ 

no foreign god was with him.

Psalms 81:9-10

81:9 There must be ²  no other ³  god among you.

You must not worship a foreign god.

81:10 I am the Lord, your God,

the one who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

Open your mouth wide and I will fill it!’

[32:12]  ¹ tn The distinctive form of the suffix on this verb form indicates that the verb is an imperfect, not a preterite. As such it draws attention to God’s continuing guidance during the period in view.

[81:9]  ² tn The imperfect verbal forms in v. 9 have a modal function, expressing what is obligatory.
