Deuteronomy 4:6

4:6 So be sure to do them, because this will testify of your wise understanding ¹  to the people who will learn of all these statutes and say, “Indeed, this great nation is a very wise ²  people.”

Matthew 5:14-16

5:14 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. 5:15 People ³  do not light a lamp and put it under a basket ⁴  but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.

Philippians 2:15-16

2:15 so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society, in which you shine as lights in the world ⁵  2:16 by holding on to ⁶  the word of life so that on the day of Christ I will have a reason to boast that I did not run in vain nor labor in vain.

The Lord’s Discipline

12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, ⁷  we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us, 12:2 keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set out for him he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. ⁸
