Blessing on Gad

33:20 Of Gad he said:

Blessed be the one who enlarges Gad.

Like a lioness he will dwell;

he will tear at an arm – indeed, a scalp. ¹ 

Deuteronomy 19:8

19:8 If the Lord your God enlarges your borders as he promised your ancestors ²  and gives you all the land he pledged to them, ³

12:20 When the Lord your God extends your borders as he said he would do and you say, “I want to eat meat just as I please,” ⁴  you may do so as you wish. ⁵ 

[33:20]  ¹ tn Heb “forehead,” picturing Gad attacking prey.

[19:8]  ² tn Heb “fathers.”

[19:8]  ³ tn Heb “he said to give to your ancestors.” The pronoun has been used in the translation instead for stylistic reasons.

[12:20]  ³ tn Heb “for my soul desires to eat meat.”

[12:20]  ⁴ tn Heb “according to all the desire of your soul you may eat meat.”
