5:24 You said, “The Lord our God has shown us his great glory 1  and we have heard him speak from the middle of the fire. It is now clear to us 2  that God can speak to human beings and they can keep on living.

[5:24]  2 tn Heb “this day we have seen.”

[9:26]  4 tn Heb “Lord Lord” (אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה, ’adonay yÿhvih). The phrase is customarily rendered by Jewish tradition as “Lord God” (אֲדֹנָי אֱלֹהִים, ’adonayelohim). See also the note on the phrase “Lord God” in Deut 3:24.

[9:26]  5 tn Heb “your inheritance”; NLT “your special (very own NRSV) possession.” Israel is compared to landed property that one would inherit from his ancestors and pass on to his descendants.
