Ecclesiastes 3:4

Context

3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

Isaiah 22:12

Context

22:12 At that time the sovereign master, the Lord who commands armies, called for weeping and mourning,

for shaved heads and sackcloth. 1 

Lamentations 5:14-15

Context

5:14 The elders are gone from the city gate;

the young men have stopped playing their music.

5:15 Our hearts no longer have any joy; 2 

our dancing is turned to mourning.

Hosea 9:4

Context

9:4 They will not pour out drink offerings of wine to the Lord;

they will not please him with their sacrifices.

Their sacrifices will be like bread eaten while in mourning;

all those who eat them will make themselves ritually unclean.

For their bread will be only to satisfy their appetite;

it will not come into the temple of the Lord.

Amos 8:3

Context

8:3 The women singing in the temple 3  will wail in that day.”

The sovereign Lord is speaking.

“There will be many corpses littered everywhere! 4  Be quiet!”

[8:3]  4 tn Heb “Many corpses in every place he will throw out.” The subject of the verb is probably impersonal, though many emend the active (Hiphil) form to a passive (Hophal): “Many corpses in every place will be thrown out.”
