Warning Against Drifting Away

2:1 Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2:2 For if the message spoken through angels ¹²  proved to be so firm that every violation ¹³  or disobedience received its just penalty,

[32:30]  ³ tn The form אֲכַפְּרָה (’akhappÿrah) is a Piel cohortative/imperfect. Here with only a possibility of being successful, a potential imperfect nuance works best.

[7:12]  ⁵ tn The second person pronoun is plural in Hebrew, indicating these words are addressed to the entire nation.
