Genesis 6:16
Context6:16 Make a roof for the ark and finish it, leaving 18 inches 7 from the top. 8 Put a door in the side of the ark, and make lower, middle, and upper decks.
[26:8] 1 tn Heb “and he”; the referent (Isaac) has been specified in the translation for clarity.
[26:8] 2 tn Heb “and it happened when the days were long to him there.”
[26:8] 3 tn Heb “look, Isaac.” By the use of the particle הִנֵּה (hinneh, “look”), the narrator invites the audience to view the scene through Abimelech’s eyes.
[26:2] 5 sn Do not go down to Egypt. The words echo Gen 12:10, which reports that “Abram went down to Egypt,” but state the opposite.
[6:16] 8 tn Heb “to a cubit you shall finish it from above.” The idea is that Noah was to leave an 18-inch opening from the top for a window for light.
