[27:27]  1 tn Heb “and he”; the referent (Jacob) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[27:27]  2 tn Heb “and he smelled the smell”; the referent (Isaac) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[27:27]  3 tn Heb “see.”

[25:21]  4 tn Heb “and it [i.e., the land] shall make the produce.” The Hebrew term וְעָשָׂת (vÿasat, “and it shall make”) is probably an older third feminine singular form of the verb (GKC 210 §75.m). Smr has the normal form.

[25:21]  5 tn Smr and LXX have “its produce” (cf. 25:3, 7, etc.) rather than “the produce.”

[24:5]  6 tn Heb “he (the righteous individual described in v. 4) lifts up a blessing from the Lord.” The singular subject is representative here, as v. 6 makes clear. The referent (godly people like the individual in v. 4) has been specified in the translation for clarity. The imperfect verbal form is generalizing; such people are typically rewarded for their deeds.

[24:5]  7 tn “and vindication from the God of his deliverance.”

[65:10]  8 tn Heb “saturating” [the form is an infinitive absolute].

[65:10]  9 tn Heb “flatten, cause to sink.”

[65:10]  10 tn Heb “trenches,” or “furrows.”

[65:10]  11 tn Heb “soften it,” that is, the earth.

[65:10]  12 tn Heb “its vegetation you bless.” Divine “blessing” often involves endowing an object with special power or capacity.

[126:6]  13 tn The noun occurs only here and in Job 28:18 in the OT. See HALOT 646 s.v. I מֶשֶׁךְ which gives “leather pouch” as the meaning.

[126:6]  14 tn The Hebrew noun אֲלֻמָּה (’alummah, “sheaf”) occurs only here and in Gen 37:7 in the OT.

[44:3]  15 tn Heb “the thirsty.” Parallelism suggests that dry ground is in view (see “dry land” in the next line.)

[44:3]  16 tn Heb “and streams”; KJV “floods.” The verb “cause…to flow” is supplied in the second line for clarity and for stylistic reasons.

[34:26]  17 tn Heb “showers of blessing.” Abundant rain, which in turn produces fruit and crops (v. 27), is a covenantal blessing for obedience (Lev 26:4).

[10:12]  18 tn Or “righteousness” (so KJV, NASB, NIV, NRSV, NLT); NAB “justice.”

[3:10]  19 tn The Hebrew phrase בֵּית הָאוֹצָר (bet haotsar, here translated “storehouse”) refers to a kind of temple warehouse described more fully in Nehemiah (where the term לִשְׁכָּה גְדוֹלָה [lishkah gÿdolah, “great chamber”] is used) as a place for storing grain, frankincense, temple vessels, wine, and oil (Neh 13:5). Cf. TEV “to the Temple.”
