  1. Gembala waktu malam g'lap menjaga dombanya; malaikat Tuhan mendekat bercahya mulia.
  2. Sabdanya, Jangan kau gentar, dengar beritaku, sebab kesukaan besar kubawa bagimu!
  3. T'lah lahir Jurus'lamatmu dan Raja dunia, yaitu Kristus, Tuhanmu. Inilah tandanya:
  4. Di dalam kandang dombamu jumoailah seg'ra seorang Bayi yang lembut, palungan tempatNya.
  5. Dan tiba-tiba tampaklah sejumlah yang besar malaikat dari sorga t'rang bernyanyi bergemar:

  Isaiah, mighty seer, in days of old The Lord of all in spirit did behold High on a lofty throne, in splendor bright, With flowing train that filled the temple quite. Above the throne were stately seraphim; Six wings had they, these messengers of Him. With twain they veiled their faces, as was meet, With twain in reverent awe they hid their feet, And with the other twain aloft they soared, One to the other called and praised the Lord: “Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth! Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth! Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth!   Faces covered, wings resplendent, Seraphim before Him bow! Angels tremble, martyrs weep, and saints perfected praise Him now! Holy is the angels’ Maker, He who spread His stars in the skies.   Great Giver of all good, To Thee our thanks we yield For all the beauties of the wood, Of hill, and dale, and field.   The harp at Nature’s advent strung Has never ceased to play; The song the stars of morning sung Has never died away. And prayer is made, and praise is giv’n, By all things near and far; The ocean looketh up to Heav’n, And mirrors every star. Its waves are kneeling on the strand, As kneels the human knee, Their white locks bowing to the sand, The priesthood of the sea!
