Genesis 32:24-28
-
[Gen 32:24] Come, O Thou Traveler Unknown
Come, O thou Traveler unknown,
Whom still I hold, but cannot see!
My company before is gone,
And I am left alone with Thee;
With Thee all night I mean to stay,
And wrestle till the break of day.I need not tell Thee who I am,
My misery and sin declare;
Thyself hast called me by my name,
Look on Thy hands, and read it there;
But who, I ask Thee, who art Thou?
Tell me Thy name, and tell me now.In vain Thou strugglest to get free,
I never will unloose my hold!
Art Thou the Man that died for me?
The secret of Thy love unfold;
Wrestling, I will not let Thee go,
Till I Thy name, Thy nature know.Wilt Thou not yet to me reveal
Thy new, unutterable Name?
Tell me, I still beseech Thee, tell;
To know it now resolved I am;
Wrestling, I will not let Thee go,
Till I Thy Name, Thy nature know.’Tis all in vain to hold Thy tongue
Or touch the hollow of my thigh;
Though every sinew be unstrung,
Out of my arms Thou shalt not fly;
Wrestling I will not let Thee go
Till I Thy name, Thy nature know.What though my shrinking flesh complain,
And murmur to contend so long?
I rise superior to my pain,
When I am weak, then I am strong
And when my all of strength shall fail,
I shall with the God-man prevail.My strength is gone, my nature dies,
I sink beneath Thy weighty hand,
Faint to revive, and fall to rise;
I fall, and yet by faith I stand;
I stand and will not let Thee go
Till I Thy Name, Thy nature know.Yield to me now, for I am weak,
But confident in self-despair;
Speak to my heart, in blessings speak,
Be conquered by my instant prayer;
Speak, or Thou never hence shalt move,
And tell me if Thy Name is Love.’Tis Love! ’tis Love! Thou diedst for me!
I hear Thy whisper in my heart;
The morning breaks, the shadows flee,
Pure, universal love Thou art;
To me, to all, Thy bowels move;
Thy nature and Thy Name is Love.My prayer hath power with God; the grace
Unspeakable I now receive;
Through faith I see Thee face to face,
I see Thee face to face, and live!
In vain I have not wept and strove;
Thy nature and Thy Name is Love.I know Thee, Savior, who Thou art.
Jesus, the feeble sinner’s friend;
Nor wilt Thou with the night depart.
But stay and love me to the end,
Thy mercies never shall remove;
Thy nature and Thy Name is Love.The Sun of righteousness on me
Hath rose with healing in His wings,
Withered my nature’s strength; from Thee
My soul its life and succor brings;
My help is all laid up above;
Thy nature and Thy Name is Love.Contented now upon my thigh
I halt, till life’s short journey end;
All helplessness, all weakness I
On Thee alone for strength depend;
Nor have I power from Thee to move:
Thy nature, and Thy name is Love.Lame as I am, I take the prey,
Hell, earth, and sin, with ease o’ercome;
I leap for joy, pursue my way,
And as a bounding hart fly home,
Through all eternity to prove
Thy nature and Thy Name is Love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 32:26] I Would Not Be Denied
When pangs of death seized on my soul,
Unto the Lord I cried;
Till Jesus came and made me whole,
I would not be denied.Refrain
I would not be denied,
I would not be denied,
Till Jesus came and made me whole,
I would not be denied.As Jacob in the days of old,
I wrestled with the Lord;
And instant, with a courage bold,
I stood upon His Word.Refrain
Old Satan said my Lord was gone
And would not hear my prayer;
But praise the Lord, the work is done,
And Christ the Lord is here.Refrain

[Gen 32:26] Lord, I Cannot Let Thee Go
Lord, I cannot let Thee go,
[originally, Nay, I cannot let Thee go]
Till a blessing Thou bestow:
Do not turn away Thy face,
Mine’s an urgent, pressing case.Dost Thou ask me who I am?
Ah! my Lord, Thou know’st my name;
Yet the question gives a plea
To support my suit with Thee.Thou didst once a wretch behold,
In rebellion blindly bold,
Scorn Thy grace, Thy power defy:
That poor rebel, Lord, was I.Once a sinner, near despair,
Sought Thy mercy seat by prayer;
Mercy heard, and set him free:
Lord, that mercy came to me.Many days have passed since then,
Many changes I have seen;
Yet have been upheld till now;
Who could hold me up but Thou?Thou hast helped in every need;
This emboldens me to plead:
After so much mercy past,
Canst Thou let me sink at last?No, I must maintain my hold;
’Tis Thy goodness makes me bold;
I can no denial take,
When I plead for Jesus’ sake.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 32:26] My God, I Know, I Feel Thee Mine
My God! I know, I feel Thee mine,
And will not quit my claim,
Till all I have is lost in Thine,
And all renewed I am.I hold Thee with a trembling hand,
But will not let Thee go,
Till steadfastly by faith I stand,
And all Thy goodness know.When shall I see the welcome hour,
That plants my God in me!
Spirit of health, and life, and power,
And perfect liberty!Jesus, Thine all victorious love
Shed in my heart abroad;
Then shall my feet no longer rove,
Rooted and fixed in God.Love only can the conquest win,
The strength of sin subdue,
(My own unconquerable sin)
And form my soul anew.Love can bow down the stubborn neck,
The stone to flesh convert,
Soften, and melt, and pierce, and break
An adamantine heart.O that in me the sacred fire
Might now begin to glow,
Burn up the dross of base desire,
And make the mountains flow!O that it now from heaven might fall,
And all my sins consume!
Come, Holy Ghost, for Thee I call,
Spirit of burning, come!Refining fire, go through my heart,
Illuminate my soul;
Scatter Thy life through every part,
And sanctify the whole.No longer then my heart shall mourn,
While, purified by grace,
I only for His glory burn,
And always see His face.My steadfast soul, from falling free,
Shall then no longer move;
But Christ be all the world to me,
And all my heart be love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Gen 32:26] Shepherd Divine, Our Wants Relieve
Shepherd divine, our wants relieve
In this our evil day,
To all Thy tempted followers give
The power to watch and pray.Long as our fiery trials last,
Long as the cross we bear,
O let our souls on Thee be cast
In never ceasing prayer!The Spirit of interceding grace
Give us in faith to claim;
To wrestle till we see Thy face,
And know Thy hidden Name.Till thou Thy perfect love impart,
Till thou thyself bestow,
Be this the cry of every heart,
“I will not let Thee go:“I will not let Thee go, unless
Thou tell Thy name to me,
With all Thy great salvation bless,
And make me all like Thee:“Then let me on the mountain top
Behold Thy open face,
Where faith in sight is swallowed up,
And prayer in endless praise.”Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Psa 22:1] My God, My God, I Cry To Thee
My God, my God, I cry to Thee;
O why hast Thou forsaken me?
Afar from me, Thou dost not heed,
Though day and night for help I plead.But Thou art holy in Thy ways,
Enthroned upon Thy people’s praise;
Our fathers put their trust in Thee,
Believed, and Thou didst set them free.They cried, and, trusting in Thy Name,
Were saved, and were not put to shame;
But in the dust mine honor lies,
While all reproach and all despise.My words a cause for scorn they make,
The lip they curl, the head they shake,
And, mocking, bid me trust the Lord
Till He salvation shall afford.My trust on Thee I learned to rest
When I was on my mother’s breast;
From birth Thou art my God alone,
Thy care my life has ever known.O let Thy strength and presence cheer,
For trouble and distress are near;
Be Thou not far away from Me,
I have no source of help but Thee.Unnumbered foes would do me wrong,
They press about me, fierce and strong,
Like beasts of prey, their rage they vent,
My courage fails, my strength is spent.Down unto death Thou leadest me,
Consumed by thirst and agony;
With cruel hate and anger fierce
My helpless hands and feet they pierce.While on my wasted form they stare,
The garments torn from me they share,
My shame and sorrow heeding not,
And for my robe they cast the lot.O Lord, afar no longer stay;
O Thou my Helper, haste, I pray;
From death and evil set me free;
I live, for Thou didst answer me.I live and will declare Thy fame
Where brethren gather in Thy Name;
Where all Thy faithful people meet,
I will Thy worthy praise repeat.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 22:1] Now Let Our Mournful Songs Record
Now let our mournful songs record
The dying sorrows of our Lord,
When He complained in tears and blood,
As one forsaken of his God.The Jews beheld Him thus forlorn,
And shake their heads, and laugh in scorn:
“He rescued others from the grave;
Now let him try himself to save.“This is the man did once pretend
God was his Father and his Friend;
If God the blessèd loved him so,
Why doth He fail to help him now?”Barbarous people! cruel priests!
How they stood round like savage beasts!
Like lions gaping to devour,
When God had left Him in their power.They wound His head, His hands, His feet,
Till streams of blood each other meet;
By lot His garments they divide,
And mock the pangs in which He died.But God, the Father, heard His cry;
Raised from the dead, He reigns on high;
The nations learn His righteousness,
And humble sinners taste His grace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 22:1] O God, My God, Wherefore Dost Thou
O God, my God, wherefore dost Thou
Forsake me utterly?
And helpest not when I do make
My great complaint and cry?To Thee, my God, e’en all day long
I do both cry and call;
I cease not all the night, and yet
Thou hearest not at all.But Thou that in Thy holy place
For evermore dost dwell;
Thou art the joy, the comfort, and
Glory of Israel:And Him in Whom our fathers old
Had all their hope and stay;
Who, when they put their trust in Thee,
Delivered’st them alway.They were preservèd ever when
They called upon Thy Name;
And for the faith they had in Thee,
They were not put to shame.But I am now become more like
A worm than to a man,
An outcast, whom the people scorn
With all the spite they can.All men despise as they behold
Me walking on the way:
They grin, make mouths, and nod their heads,
And on this wise do say.This man did glory in the Lord,
His favor and His love:
Let Him redeem and help him now,
His pow’r if he will prove.But from the prison of the womb
I was by Thee released;
Thou didst preserve me still in hope,
Whilst I did suck the breast:I was committed from my birth
With Thee to have abode;
Since I came from my mother’s womb,
Thou hast been still my God.Then, Lord, depart not now from me
In this my present grief,
Since I have none to be my help,
My succor and relief.For many bulls do compass me,
That be full strong of head;
Yea, bulls so fat, as though they had
In Basan field been fed.They gape upon me greedily,
As though they would me slay;
Much like a lion roaring out,
And ramping for his prey.But I drop down like water shed,
My joints in sunder break,
My heart doth in my body melt
Like wax, I am so weak.My strength doth like a potsherd dry,
My tongue it cleaveth fast
Unto my jaws, and I am brought
To dust of death at last.For many dogs do compass me,
In council they do meet,
Conspiring still against my life,
Piercing my hands and feet.I was tormented so that I
Might all my bones have told,
Whilst they do look and stare at me,
When they do me behold.My garments they divided have
In parts among them all;
And for my coat they did cast lots
To whom it should befall.Therefore, I pray Thee, be not far
From me at my great need,
But rather, since Thou art my strength,
To help me, Lord, make speed:And from the sword save Thou my soul
By Thy might and Thy pow’r,
And ever keep my darling dear
From dogs that would devour;And from the lion’s mouth that would
Me all in sunder tear;
From ’midst the horns of unicorns,
O Lord, Thou didst me hear.When shall I to my brethren all
Thy Majesty record,
And in Thy church shall praise the Name
Of Thee the living Lord.All ye that fear Him, praise the Lord,
Thou, Jacob, Him adore,
And all ye seed of Israel,
Fear Him for evermore.For He despiseth not the poor,
He hideth not away
His countenance when they do call,
But hears them when they pray,Among the folk that fear the Lord,
I will therefore proclaim
Thy praise, and keep my promise made
For setting forth Thy Name.The poor shall eat and be sufficed;
Such as their minds do give
To seek the Lord, and praise His Name,
Their hearts shall ever live.The coasts of all the earth shall praise
The Lord, and seek His grace;
The heathen folk shall worship all
Before His blessèd face.The kingdoms of the heathen folk
The Lord shall have therefore;
And he shall be their Governor
And King for evermore.The rich men of His goodly gifts
Shall taste and feed also,
And in His presence worship Him,
And bow their knees full low.And all that shall go down to dust,
Of life by Him shall taste;
A seed shall serve and worship Him,
Till time away shall waste.They shall declare and plainly show
His truth and righteousness,
Unto a people yet unborn,
Who shall His Name confess.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 22:1] Why Has My God My Soul Forsook?
Why has my God my soul forsook,
Nor will a smile afford?
Thus David once in anguish spoke,
And thus our dying Lord.Though ’tis Thy chief delight to dwell
Among Thy praising saints,
Yet Thou canst hear a groan as well,
And pity our complaints.Our fathers trusted in Thy Name,
And great deliverance found;
But I’m a worm, despised of men,
And trodden to the ground.Shaking the head, they pass me by,
And laugh my soul to scorn;
“In vain he trusts in God,” they cry,
“Neglected and forlorn.”But Thou art He Who formed my flesh
By Thine almighty Word;
And since I hung upon the breast,
My hope is in the Lord.Why will my Father hide His face,
When foes stand threatning round,
In the dark hour of deep distress,
And not a helper found?Behold Thy darling left among
The cruel and the proud,
As bulls of Bashan, fierce and strong,
As lions roaring loud.From earth and hell My sorrows meet
To multiply the smart;
They nail My hands, they pierce My feet,
And try to vex My heart.Yet if Thy sovereign hand let loose
The rage of earth and hell,
Why will my heav’nly Father bruise
The Son He loves so well?My God, if possible it be,
Withhold this bitter cup
But I resign my will to Thee,
And drink the sorrows up.My heart dissolves with pangs unknown,
In groans I waste my breath;
Thy heavy hand has brought Me down
Low as the dust of death.Father, I give My Spirit up,
And trust it in Thy hand;
My dying flesh shall rest in hope,
And rise at Thy command.Play source: Cyberhymnal
Psalms 22:12-21
-
[Psa 22:16] O’erwhelmed In Depths Of Woe
O’erwhelmed in depths of woe,
Upon the tree of scorn,
Hangs the Redeemer of mankind,
With racking anguish torn.See how the nails those hands
And feet so tender rend;
See down His face, and neck, and breast
His sacred blood descend.Oh, hear that last, loud cry
Which pierced His mother’s heart,
As into God the Father’s hands
He bade His soul depart.Earth hears, and trembling quakes
Around that tree of pain;
The rocks are rent; the graves are burst;
The veil is rent in twain.Shall man alone be mute?
Have we no griefs, or fears?
Come, old and young, come, all mankind,
And bathe those feet in tears.Come, fall before His cross,
Who shed for us His blood,
Who died, the Victim of pure love,
To make us sons of God.Jesu, all praise to Thee,
Our Joy and endless Rest;
Be Thou our Guide while pilgrims here,
Our Crown amid the blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 22:21] Now From The Roaring Lion’s Rage
“Now from the roaring lion’s rage,
O Lord, protect Thy Son,
Nor leave Thy darling to engage
The powers of hell alone.”Thus did our suffering Savior pray
With mighty cries and tears;
God heard Him in that dreadful day,
And chased away His fears.Great was the victory of His death,
His throne exalted high;
And all the kindreds of the earth
Shall worship or shall die.A numerous offspring must arise
From His expiring groans;
They shall be reckoned in His eyes
For daughters and for sons.The meek and humble souls shall see
His table richly spread;
And all that seek the Lord shall be
With joys immortal fed.The isles shall know the righteousness
Of our incarnate God,
And nations yet unborn profess
Salvation in His blood.Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Psa 40:1] Day After Day I Sought The Lord
Day after day I sought the Lord,
And waited patiently;
Until He bent down from His throne,
And hearkened to my cry.He drew me from the fearful pit,
And from the miry clay;
He placed my feet upon a rock,
And led me in His way.He taught my soul a new-made song,
A song of holy praise,
All they who see these things, with fear
Their hopes to God shall raise.Most blessèd is the man whose hope
Upon the Lord relies;
Who follows not the proud, nor those
That turn aside to lies.O Lord, what wonders hast Thou wrought,
All number far above!
Thy thoughts to us-ward overflow
With mercy, grace, and love.Show forth Thy mercy, gracious Lord;
O take it not away!
Thy loving kindness and Thy truth,
Let them be still my stay.For countless sorrows hem me round;
And my iniquities
So hold me fast, and drag me down,
I cannot raise my eyes.My hairs in number they surpass;
Hence is my heart dismayed;
Vouchsafe, O Lord, to rescue me!
O hasten to my aid.Let those who seek Thee faithfully
In peace and joy abide;
Let those who love Thy grace still say,
“The Lord be magnified.”Poor am I, and in need; yet God
Care of my soul doth take.
Thou art my help; my Savior Thou;
Lord, no long tarrying make.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 40:1] I Waited For The Lord Most High
I waited for the Lord most high,
And He inclined to hear my cry;
He took me from destruction’s pit
And from the miry clay;
Upon a rock he set my feet,
And steadfast made my way.A new and joyful song of praise
He taught my thankful heart to raise;
And many, seeing me restored,
Shall fear the Lord and trust;
And blest are they that trust the Lord,
The humble and the just.O Lord my God, how manifold
Thy wondrous works which I behold,
And all Thy loving, gracious thought
Thou hast bestowed on man;
To count Thy mercies I have sought,
But boundless is their span.Not sacrifice delights the Lord,
But he who hears and keeps His Word;
Thou gavest me to hear Thy will,
Thy law is in my heart;
I come the Scripture to fulfill,
Glad tidings to impart.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 40:1] I Waited For The Lord My God
I waited for the Lord my God,
Yea, patiently drew near,
And He at length inclined to me,
My pleading cry to hear.He took me from destruction’s pit,
From out the miry clay;
He set my feet upon a rock,
And steadfast made my way.A new and joyful song of praise
My thankful heart He taught,
A song of glory to our God
For all that He has wrought.And many who behold how good
The Lord has been to me
Shall learn to fear, and in His Name
Their trust shall henceforth be.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Life in Thy life I share, Jesus, my Lord.Refrain

Home on the other side, Jesus, my Lord,
I shall awake with Thee, Thine through eternity,
Thou that hast died for me, Jesus, my Lord.Refrain

[Psa 40:2] He Brought Me Out
My heart was distressed ’neath Jehovah’s dread frown,
And low in the pit where my sins dragged me down;
I cried to the Lord from the deep miry clay,
Who tenderly brought me out to golden day.Refrain
He brought me out of the miry clay,
He set my feet on the Rock to stay;
He puts a song in my soul today,
A song of praise, hallelujah!He placed me upon the strong Rock by His side,
My steps were established and here I’ll abide;
No danger of falling while here I remain,
But stand by His grace until the crown I gain.Refrain
He gave me a song, ’twas a new song of praise;
By day and by night its sweet notes I will raise;
My heart’s overflowing, I’m happy and free.
I’ll praise my Redeemer, who has rescued me.Refrain
I’ll sing of His wonderful mercy to me,
I’ll praise Him till all men His goodness shall see;
I’ll sing of salvation at home and abroad,

O Jesus washed my sins away,
Yes, He did! Yes, He did!
And made me happy all the day,
Yes, He did! Yes, He did!Refrain
He died on the cross to save my soul,
Yes, He did! Yes, He did!
He ransomed me and made me whole,
Yes, He did! Yes, He did!Refrain

[Psa 40:3] He Keeps Me Singing
There’s within my heart a melody
Jesus whispers sweet and low,
Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,
In all of life’s ebb and flow.Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go.All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
Discord filled my heart with pain,
Jesus swept across the broken strings,
Stirred the slumbering chords again.Refrain
Feasting on the riches of His grace,
Resting ’neath His sheltering wing,
Always looking on His smiling face,
That is why I shout and sing.Refrain
Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,
Trials fall across the way,
Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
See His footprints all the way.Refrain
Soon He’s coming back to welcome me,
Far beyond the starry sky;
I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,
I shall reign with Him on high.Refrain

[Psa 40:3] Wonderful, Wonderful Jesus
There is never a day so dreary,
There is never a night so long,
But the soul that is trusting in Jesus
Will somewhere find a song.Refrain
Wonderful, wonderful Jesus,
In the heart He implanteth a song:
A song of deliverance, of courage, of strength,
In the heart He implanteth a song.There is never a cross so heavy,
There is never a weight of woe,
But that Jesus will help to carry
Because He loveth so.Refrain
There is never a care or burden,
There is never a grief or loss,
But that Jesus in love will lighten
When carried to the cross.Refrain
There is never a guilty sinner,
There is never a wandering one,
But that God can in mercy pardon
Through Jesus Christ, His Son.Refrain

[Psa 69:14] Where The Wrecks Wash In
Our Jesus walks where the wrecks wash in,
All bruised and sore from the sea of sin;
As each comes in on the rushing tide,
He gently calls from the dark seaside.Refrain
O sinner tossed on the turbid foam,
To Christ then come and His harbor home,
He waits just now on the peaceful shore,
To heal your wounds and your soul restore.Just as He did there in Galilee,
He walks today by the foaming sea;
That He may heal all the sick and sore,
When roughly dashed on the friendly shore.Refrain
He loves to walk where the wrecks wash in,
That long have tossed on the sea of sin;
Who call to Him with their failing breath,
To rescue them from the sea of death.Refrain

[Psa 69:15] O God, Who Metest In Thy Hand
O God, who metest in Thine hand
The waters of the mighty sea,
And barrest ocean with the sand
By Thy perpetual decree:What time the floods lift up their voice
And break in anger on the shore,
When deep to deep calls with the noise
Of waterspouts and billows’ roar;When they who to the sea go down,
And in the waters ply their toil,
Are lifted on the surge’s crown,
And plunged where seething eddies boil;Rule then, O Lord, the ocean’s wrath,
And bind the tempest with Thy will;
Tread, as of old, the water’s path
And speak Thy bidding, “Peace, be still.”So with Thy mercies ever new
Thy servants set from peril free,
And bring them, Pilot wise and true,
Within the port where they would be.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 69:16] Thy Lovingkindness, Lord, Is Good And Free
Thy lovingkindness, Lord, is good and free,
In tender mercy turn Thou unto me;
Hide not Thy face from me in my distress,
In mercy hear my prayer, Thy servant bless.Needy and sorrowful, to Thee I cry;
Let Thy salvation set my soul on high;
Then I will sing and praise Thy holy Name,
My thankful song Thy mercy shall proclaim.With joy the meek shall see my soul restored;
Your heart shall live, ye saints that seek the Lord;
He helps the needy and regards their cries,
Those in distress the Lord will not despise.Let Heav’n above His grace and glory tell,
Let earth and sea and all that in them dwell;
Salvation to His people God will give,
And they that love His Name with Him shall live.Play source: Cyberhymnal
Psalms 88:1-18
-
[Psa 88:1] Lord, The God Of My Salvation
Lord, the God of my salvation, day and night I cry to Thee;
Let my prayer now find acceptance, in Thy mercy answer me.
Full of troubles and affliction, nigh to death my soul is brought,
Helpless, like one cast forever from Thy care and from Thy thought.Thou hast brought me down to darkness, ’neath Thy wrath I am oppressed;
All the billows of affliction overwhelm my soul distressed.
Thou hast made my friends despise me, and companionless I go,
Bound, and helpless in my bondage, pining in my bitter woe.Unto Thee, with hands uplifted, daily I direct my cry;
Hear, O Lord, my supplication, hear and save me ere I die.
Wilt Thou wait to show Thy wonders and Thy mercy to the dead?
Let me live to tell Thy praises, by Thy lovingkindness led.Still, O Lord, renewed each morning unto Thee my prayer shall be;
Cast me not away forever, let me now Thy favor see.
All my life is spent in sorrow, grief and terror always nigh,
Waves of wrath have surged about me; show Thy mercy ere I die.Friend and lover are departed, dark and lonely is my way;
Lord, be Thou my Friend and Helper, still to Thee, O Lord, I pray.
Lord, the God of my salvation, day and night I cry to Thee;
Let my prayer now find acceptance; in Thy mercy answer me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 88:9] Father, I Stretch My Hands To Thee
Father, I stretch my hands to Thee,
No other help I know;
If Thou withdraw Thyself from me,
Ah! whither shall I go?What did Thine only Son endure,
Before I drew my breath!
What pain, what labor, to secure
My soul from endless death!O Jesus, could I this believe,
I now should feel Thy power;
Now my poor soul Thou wouldst retrieve,
Nor let me wait one hour.Surely Thou canst not let me die;
O speak, and I shall live;
And here I will unwearied lie,
Till Thou Thy Spirit give.Author of faith! to Thee I lift
My weary, longing eyes:
O let me now receive that gift!
My soul without it dies.The worst of sinners would rejoice,
Could they but see Thy face:
O, let me hear Thy quickening voice,
And taste Thy pardoning grace.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 88:10] Shall Man, O God Of Light And Life
Shall man, O God of light and life,
Forever molder in the grave?
Canst Thou forget Thy glorious work,
Thy promise, and Thy power to save?But in those silent realms of night,
Shall peace and hope no more arise?
No future morning light the tomb,
Nor daystar gild the darksome skies?Cease, cease, ye vain, desponding fears:
When Christ, our Lord, from darkness sprang,
Death, the last foe, was captive led,
And Heaven with praise and wonder rang.Faith sees the bright, eternal doors
Unfold, to make His children way;
They shall be clothed with endless life,
And shine in everlasting day.Play source: Cyberhymnal
Psalms 130:1-2
-
[Psa 130:1] From Deep Distress And Troubled Thoughts
From deep distress and troubled thoughts
To Thee, my God, I raised my cries;
If Thou severely mark our faults,
No flesh can stand before Thine eyes.But Thou hast built Thy throne of grace
Free to dispense Thy pardons there,
That sinners may approach Thy face,
And hope and love, as well as fear.As the benighted pilgrims wait
And long, and wish for breaking day,
So waits my soul before Thy gate;
When will my God His face display?My trust is fixed upon Thy Word,
Nor shall I trust Thy Word in vain;
Let mourning souls address the Lord
And find relief from all their pain.Great is His love, and large His grace,
Through the redemption of His Son;
He turns our feet from sinful ways,
And pardons what our hands have done.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] From Depths Of Woe I Raise To Thee
From depths of woe I raise to Thee
The voice of lamentation;
Lord, turn a gracious ear to me
And hear my supplication;
If Thou iniquities dost mark,
Our secret sins and misdeeds dark,
O who shall stand before Thee?To wash away the crimson stain,
Grace, grace alone availeth;
Our works, alas! are all in vain;
In much the best life faileth:
No man can glory in Thy sight,
All must alike confess Thy might,
And live alone by mercy.Therefore my trust is in the Lord,
And not in mine own merit;
On Him my soul shall rest, His Word
Upholds my fainting spirit:
His promised mercy is my fort,
My comfort, and my sweet support;
I wait for it with patience.What though I wait the livelong night,
And till the dawn appeareth,
My heart still trusteth in His might;
It doubteth not nor feareth:
Do thus, O ye of Israel’s seed,
Ye of the Spirit born indeed;
And wait till God appeareth.Though great our sins and sore our woes,
His grace much more aboundeth;
His helping love no limit knows,
Our utmost need it soundeth.
Our Shepherd good and true is He,
Who will at last His Israel free.
From all their sin and sorrow.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] From Out The Depths I Cry, O Lord
From out the depths I cry, O Lord, to Thee,
Lord, hear my call.
I love Thee, Lord, for Thou dost heed my plea,
Forgiving all.
If Thou dost mark our sins, who then shall stand?
But grace and mercy dwell at Thy right hand.I wait for God, the Lord, and on His Word
My hope relies;
My soul still waits and looks unto the Lord
Till light arise.
I look for Him to drive away my night,
Yea, more than watchmen look for morning light.Hope in the Lord, ye waiting saints, and He
Will well provide;
For mercy and redemption full and free
With Him abide.
From sin and evil, mighty though they seem,
His arm almighty will His saints redeem.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] From The Depths Do I Invoke Thee
From the depths do I invoke Thee,
Lord, to me incline Thine ear;
To my voice be Thou attentive,
And my supplications hear.Lord, if Thou shouldst mark transgressions,
In Thy presence who shall stand?
But with Thee there is forgiveness,
That Thy Name may fear command.For Jehovah I am waiting
And my hope is in His Word;
In His Word of promise given,
Yea, my soul waits for the Lord.For the Lord my soul is waiting
More than watchers in the night;
More than they for morning watching,
Watching for the morning light.Hope in God, ye waiting people,
Mercies great in Him abound;
With the Lord a full redemption
From the guilt of sin is found.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] From The Depths My Prayer Ascendeth
From the depths my prayer ascendeth
Unto God on high;
Hear, O Lord, my supplication
And my cry.None can stand unscathed and blameless
In Thy judgment just,
But the contrite in Thy mercy
Humbly trust.Lord, my hope is in Thy promise,
And I wait for Thee
More than they who watch for morning,
Light to see.With the Lord is tender mercy,
And redeeming love;
Israel, look for full salvation
From above.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Lord, From The Depths To Thee I Cried
Lord, from the depths to Thee I cried:
My voice, Lord, do Thou hear;
Unto my supplication’s voice
Give an attentive ear.Lord, who shall stand, if Thou, O Lord,
Shouldst mark iniquity?
But yet with Thee forgiveness is,
That feared Thou mayest be.I wait for God, my soul doth wait;
My hope is in His Word.
More than they that for morning watch,
My soul waits for the Lord.I say, more than they that do watch
The morning light to see.
Let Israel hope in the Lord,
For with Him mercies be.Redemption also plenteous
Is ever found with Him;
And from all his iniquities
He Israel shall redeem.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Out Of My Bondage, Sorrow, And Night
Out of my bondage, sorrow, and night,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into Thy freedom, gladness, and light,
Jesus, I come to Thee;
Out of my sickness, into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thyself,
Jesus, I come to Thee.Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of earth’s sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life’s storms and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
Jesus, I come to Thee.Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into Thy blessèd will to abide,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on wings like a dove,
Jesus, I come to Thee.Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come, Jesus, I come;
Into the joy and light of Thy throne,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,
Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
Jesus, I come to Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Out Of The Deep I Call
Out of the deep I call,
To Thee, O Lord, to Thee,
Before Thy throne of grace I fall;
Be merciful to me.Out of the deep I cry,
The woeful deep of sin,
Of evil done in days gone by,
Of evil now within.Out of the deep of fear
And dread of coming shame;
All night till morning watch is near
I plead the precious Name.Lord, there is mercy now,
As ever was, with Thee,
Before Thy throne of grace I bow;
Be merciful to me.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Out Of The Deeps Of Long Distress
Out of the deeps of long distress,
The borders of despair,
I sent my cries to seek Thy grace,
My groans to move Thine ear.Great God, should Thy severer eye,
And Thine impartial hand,
Mark and revenge iniquity,
No mortal flesh could stand.But there are pardons with my God
For crimes of high degree;
Thy Son has bought them with His blood,
To draw us near to Thee.I wait for Thy salvation, Lord,
With strong desires I wait;
My soul, invited by Thy Word,
Stands watching at Thy gate.Just as the guards that keep the night
Long for the morning skies,
Watch the first beams of breaking light,
And meet them with their eyes;So waits my soul to see Thy grace,
And, more intent than they,
Meets the first openings of Thy face,
And finds a brighter day.Then in the Lord let Israel trust,
Let Israel seek His face;
The Lord is good as well as just,
And plenteous is His grace.There’s full redemption at His throne
For sinners long enslaved;
The great Redeemer is His Son,
And Israel shall be saved.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] Out Of The Depths To Thee I Cry
Out of the depths to Thee I cry,
Whose fainting footsteps trod
The paths of our humanity,
Incarnate Son of God!Thou Man of grief, who once apart
Didst all our sorrows bear,
The trembling hand, the fainting heart
The agony, and prayer!Is this the consecrated dower,
Thy chosen ones obtain,
To know Thy resurrection power
Through fellowship of pain?Then, O my soul, in silence wait;
Faint not, O faltering feet;
Press onward to that blest estate,
In righteousness complete.Let faith transcend the passing hour,
The transient pain and strife,
Upraised by an immortal power,
The power of endless life.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 130:1] When In The Hour Of Utmost Need
When in the hour of utmost need
We know not where to look for aid,
When days and nights of anxious thought
Nor help nor counsel yet have brought.Then this our comfort is alone,
That we may meet before Thy throne,
And cry, O faithful God, to Thee
For rescue from our misery.That so with all our hearts we may
Once more our glad thanksgivings pay,
And walk obedient to Thy Word,
And now and ever praise the Lord.Play source: Cyberhymnal
Lamentations 1:12
-
[Lam 1:12] All Ye That Pass By
All ye that pass by,
To Jesus draw nigh:
To you is it nothing that Jesus should die?
Your ransom and peace,
Your surety He is:
Come, see if there ever was sorrow like His.For what you have done
His blood must atone:
The Father hath punished for you His dear Son.
The Lord, in the day
Of His anger, did lay
Your sins on the Lamb, and He bore them away.He answered for all:
O come at His call,
And low at His cross with astonishment fall!
But lift up your eyes
At Jesus’ cries:
Impassive, He suffers; immortal, He dies.He dies to atone
For sins not His own;
Your debt He hath paid, and your work He hath done.
Ye all may receive
The peace He did leave,
Who made intercession, “My Father, forgive!”For you and for me
He prayed on the tree:
The prayer is accepted, the sinner is free.
That sinner am I,
Who on Jesus rely,
And come for the pardon God cannot deny.My pardon I claim;
For a sinner I am,
A sinner believing in Jesus’ Name.
He purchased the grace
Which now I embrace:
O Father, Thou know’st He hath died in my place.His death is my plea;
My Advocate see,
And hear the blood speak that hath answered for me.
My ransom He was
When He bled on the cross;
And losing His life He hath carried my cause.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Lam 1:12] My Savior! I Behold Thy Life
My Savior! I behold Thy life
Of not one smile and many tears;
I mark the spiritual strife,
Thy human woes, Thy human fears,
And cry, “Was ever grief like Thine,
Or debt of sin so vast as mine?”I watch Thine agonizing hour,
I see Thee by Thine own betrayed,
Alone in Pilate’s craven power,
And scourged and scornfully arrayed,
And cry, “Was ever grief like Thine
Or debt of sin so vast as mine?”I see Thee fainting on Thy way,
Reviled and mocked of all the throng,
I hear the bitter words they say,
The abject’s sneer, the drunkard’s song,
And cry, “Was ever grief like Thine,
Or debt of sin so vast as mine?”That sin in every taunt I hear,
And see in every look of scorn;
It is the Cross which Thou dost bear,
The sharpness of Thy crown of thorn:
Dear Lord, “Was ever grief like Thine,
Or debt of sin so vast as mine?”My Savior, I behold Thy death,
I hear Thy cries, Thy last words seven,
I see the scowling gaze beneath,
Above, the darkened face of Heaven,
And cry, “Was ever grief like Thine,
Or debt of sin so vast as mine?”My Savior, I behold Thy grave
In that still garden’s awful gloom,
I see Thee lying there to save
My soul from an eternal tomb,
And cry, “Was ever grief like Thine,
Or debt of sin so vast as mine?”And yet with all I hear and see
Of Death, or Passion of Thy life,
Sweet hopes are ministered to me
And voices fall with comfort rife,
That say, “Because He lived and died,
From sin thou canst be purified!”Play source: Cyberhymnal

Cleanse me now and seal me Thine.Refrain
As I am, O blessèd Lord,

Let my soul no longer roam,
Take, O take the wand’rer home.Refrain

Lost, but found, what joy is mine!
Thou dost cleanse and keep me Thine.Refrain

Hebrews 5:7
-
[Heb 5:7] Our Blessèd Savior Seven Times Spoke
Our blessèd Savior sev’n times spoke
When on the cross our sins He took
And died lest men should perish.
Let us His last and dying words
In our remembrance cherish.“Father, forgive these men; for, lo,
They truly know not what they do.”
So far His love extended.
Forgive us, Lord, for we, too, have
Through ignorance offended.Now to the contrite thief He cries:
“Thou, verily, in Paradise
Shall meet Me ere tomorrow.”
Lord, take us to Thy kingdom soon
Who linger here in sorrow.To weeping Mary, standing by,
“Behold thy Son,” now hear Him cry;
To John, “Behold thy mother.”
Provide, O Lord, for those we leave;
Let each befriend the other.The Savior’s fourth word was “I thirst.”
O mighty Prince of Life, Thy thirst
For us and our salvation
Is truly great; do help us, then,
That we escape damnation.The fifth, “My God, My God, O why
Forsake Me?” Hark, the awful cry!
Lord, Thou wast here forsaken
That we might be received on high;
Let this hope not be shaken.The sixth, when victory was won,
“’Tis finished!” for Thy work was done.
Grant, Lord, that, onward pressing,
We may the work Thou dost impose
Fulfill with Thine own blessing.The last, as woe and sufferings end,
“O God, My Father, I commend
Into Thy hands My Spirit.”
Be this, dear Lord, my dying wish;
O heavenly Father, hear it.Whoe’er, by sense of sin oppressed,
Upon these words his thoughts will rest,
He joy and hope obtaineth
And through God’s love and boundless grace
A peaceful conscience gaineth.O Jesus Christ, Thou Crucified,
Who hast for our offenses died,
Grant that we e’er may ponder
Thy wounds, Thy cross, Thy bitter death,
Both here below and yonder.Play source: Cyberhymnal
