Genesis 32:3

32:3 Jacob sent messengers on ahead ¹  to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the region ²  of Edom.

Genesis 36:8

36:8 So Esau (also known as Edom) lived in the hill country of Seir. ³ 

Deuteronomy 2:5

2:5 Do not be hostile toward them, because I am not giving you any of their land, not even a footprint, for I have given Mount Seir ⁴  as an inheritance for Esau.

[32:3]  ² tn Heb “field.”

[36:8]  ³ tn Traditionally “Mount Seir,” but in this case the expression בְּהַר שֵׂעִיר (bÿhar se’ir) refers to the hill country or highlands of Seir.

[2:5]  ⁴ sn Mount Seir is synonymous with Edom.
