[30:19]  1 tn Heb “and she bore a sixth son for Jacob,” i.e., this was the sixth son that Leah had given Jacob.

[30:20]  2 sn The name Zebulun (זְבֻלוּן, zevulun) apparently means “honor.” The name plays on the verb used in the statement made earlier in the verse. The Hebrew verb translated “will honor” and the name Zebulun derive from the same root.

[49:13]  3 tn The verb שָׁכַן (shakhan) means “to settle,” but not necessarily as a permanent dwelling place. The tribal settlements by the sea would have been temporary and not the tribe’s territory.

[49:13]  4 map For location see Map1 A1; JP3 F3; JP4 F3.

[26:27]  5 sn The Zebulunites showed a slight increase from 57,400 to 60,500.

[33:19]  6 tn Or “acceptable”; Heb “righteous” (so NASB).

[33:19]  7 tn Heb “suck.”

[33:19]  8 tn Heb “of the sand” (so NRSV, NLT); CEV “the sandy beach.”

[2:1]  9 tn Heb “Reed Sea.” See note on the term “Red Sea” in Deut 1:40.
