2:11 For indeed he who makes holy and those being made holy all have the same origin, ¹  and so ²  he is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters, ³

6:18 so that we who have found refuge in him ⁴  may find strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us through two unchangeable things, since it is impossible for God to lie.

Hebrews 13:9

13:9 Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. ⁵  For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, ⁶  which have never benefited those who participated in them.

[2:11]  ³ tn Grk “brothers,” but the Greek word may be used for “brothers and sisters” as here (cf. BDAG 18 s.v. ἀδελφός 1, where considerable nonbiblical evidence for the plural ἀδελφοί [adelfoi] meaning “brothers and sisters” is cited). The context here also indicates both men and women are in view; note especially the collective τὰ παιδία (ta paidia) in v. 14.

[6:18]  ⁴ tn Grk “have taken refuge”; the basis of that refuge is implied in the preceding verse.

[13:9]  ⁷ tn Grk “by diverse and strange teachings.”

[13:9]  ⁸ tn Grk “foods,” referring to the meals associated with the OT sacrifices (see the contrast with the next verse; also 9:9-10; 10:1, 4, 11).
