  Suppliant, lo! Thy children bend, Father, for Thy blessing now; Thou canst teach us, guide, defend; We are weak, almighty Thou! With the peace Thy Word imparts Be the taught and teacher blessed; In our lives and in our hearts, Father, be Thy laws impressed. Pour into each longing mind Light and knowledge from above, Charity for all mankind, Trusting faith, enduring love.

Isaiah 55:7

• [Isa 55:7] Sinners, The Voice Of God Regard

  Sinners, the voice of God regard; ’Tis mercy speaks today; He calls you by His sacred Word From sin’s destructive way. Like the rough sea that cannot rest, You live devoid of peace; A thousand stings within your breast Deprive your souls of ease. Your way is dark, and leads to hell; Why will you persevere? Can you in endless torments dwell, Shut up in black despair? Why will you in the crooked ways Of sin and folly go? In pain you travel all your days, To reap eternal woe. But he that turns to God shall live Through His abounding grace: His mercy will the guilt forgive Of those that seek His face. Bow to the scepter of His Word, Renouncing every sin, Submit to Him, your sovereign Lord, And learn His will divine. His love exceeds your highest thoughts, He pardons like a God; He will forgive your numerous faults, Through a Redeemer’s blood.

  Oh come to the Savior, believe in His Name, And ask Him your heart to renew; He waits to be gracious, O turn not away, For now there is pardon for you. Lamentations 3:40-41

• [Lam 3:41] Lift Up Your Hearts

  “Lift up your hearts!” We lift them, Lord, to Thee; Here at Thy feet none other may we see; “Lift up your hearts!” E’en so, with one accord, We lift them up, we lift them to the Lord. Above the level of the former years, The mire of sin, the weight of guilty fears, The mist of doubt, the blight of love’s decay, O Lord of Light, lift all our hearts today! Above the swamps of subterfuge and shame, The deeds, the thoughts, that honor may not name, The halting tongue that dares not tell the whole, O Lord of Truth, lift every Christian soul! Above the storms that vex this lower state, Pride, jealousy, and envy, rage, and hate, And cold mistrust that holds e’en friends apart, O Lord of Love, lift every brother’s heart! Lift every gift that Thou Thyself hast given; Low lies the best till lifted up to heaven; Low lie the bounding heart, the teeming brain, Till, sent from God, they mount to God again. Then, as the trumpet call, in after years, “Lift up your hearts!” rings pealing in our ears, Still shall those hearts respond, with full accord “We lift them up, we lift them to the Lord!”

• [Lam 3:41] We Lift Our Hearts To Thee

  We lift our hearts to Thee, O Day Star from on high! The sun itself is but Thy shade, Yet cheers both earth and sky. O let Thine orient beams The night of sin disperse, The mists of error and of vice Which shade the universe. How beauteous nature now: How dark and sad before! With joy we view the pleasing change, And nature’s God adore. O may no gloomy crime Pollute the rising day; Or Jesus’ blood, like evening dew, Wash all the stains away. May we this life improve, To mourn for errors past; And live this short, revolving day As if it were our last. To God—the Father, Son, And Spirit—One in Three, Be glory; as it was, is now, And shall forever be.
