[3:10]  3 tn Heb “for the fruit of their deeds they will eat.”

[3:11]  4 tn Heb “for the work of his hands will be done to him.”

[16:27]  7 sn An allusion to Pss 28:4; 62:12; cf. Prov 24:12.

[16:2]  8 tn Grk “But answering, he said to them.” The construction has been simplified in the translation and δέ (de) has not been translated.

[1:6]  9 sn By the wife of Uriah, i.e., Bathsheba (cf. 2 Sam 11:3).

[1:7]  10 tc The reading ᾿Ασάφ (Asaf), a variant spelling on ᾿Ασά (Asa), is found in the earliest and most widespread witnesses (Ì1vid א B C [Dluc] Ë1,13 700 pc it co). Although Asaph was a psalmist and Asa was a king, it is doubtful that the author mistook one for the other since other ancient documents have variant spellings on the king’s name (such as “Asab,” “Asanos,” and “Asaph”). Thus the spelling ᾿Ασάφ that is almost surely found in the original of Matt 1:7-8 has been translated as “Asa” in keeping with the more common spelling of the king’s name.

[2:2]  11 sn The message spoken through angels refers to the OT law, which according to Jewish tradition was mediated to Moses through angels (cf. Deut 33:2; Ps 68:17-18; Acts 7:38, 53; Gal 3:19; and Jub. 1:27, 29; Josephus, Ant. 15.5.3 [15.136]).

[2:2]  12 tn Grk “through angels became valid and every violation.”

[11:26]  13 tn Grk “the abuse [or ‘reproach’] of Christ.”

[11:26]  14 tn Grk “he was looking away to.”
