[54:7]  1 tn Or “forsook” (NASB).

[27:3]  2 tn Heb “her.” Apparently “vineyard” is the antecedent, though normally this noun is understood as masculine (see Lev 25:3, however).

[27:3]  3 tn Or perhaps, “constantly.” Heb “by moments.”

[27:3]  4 tn Heb “lest [someone] visit [harm] upon it, night and day I guard it.”

[54:8]  3 tn According to BDB 1009 s.v. שֶׁטֶף the noun שֶׁצֶף here is an alternate form of שֶׁטֶף (shetef, “flood”). Some relate the word to an alleged Akkadian cognate meaning “strength.”

[54:8]  4 tn Heb “I hid my face from you.”

[54:8]  5 tn Or “redeemer.” See the note at 41:14.

[26:20]  4 tn Heb “until anger passes by.”

[47:9]  5 tn Heb “loss of children and widowhood.” In the Hebrew text the phrase is in apposition to “both of these” in line 1.

[47:9]  6 tn Heb “according to their fullness, they will come upon you.”

[47:9]  7 tn For other examples of the preposition bet (בְּ) having the sense of “although, despite,” see BDB 90 s.v. III.7.

[47:9]  8 sn Reference is made to incantations and amulets, both of which were important in Mesopotamian religion. They were used to ward off danger and demons.
