[7:23]  1 tn Heb “in that day.” The verb that introduces this verse serves as a discourse particle and is untranslated; see note on “in the future” in 2:2.

[7:23]  2 tn Heb “will become” (so NASB); NAB “shall be turned to.”

[37:36]  3 tn Traditionally, “the angel of the Lord” (so NASB, NIV, NRSV, NLT).

[37:36]  4 tn The word “troops” is supplied in the translation for smoothness and clarity.

[37:36]  5 tn This refers to the Israelites and/or the rest of the Assyrian army.

[37:36]  6 tn Heb “look, all of them were dead bodies”; NLT “they found corpses everywhere.”

[30:17]  5 tn Heb “One thousand from before [or “because of”] one battle cry.” גְּעָרָה (gÿarah) is often defined as “threat,” but in war contexts it likely refers to a shout or battle cry. See Ps 76:6.

[30:17]  6 tn Heb “from before [or “because of”] the battle cry of five you will flee.

[30:17]  7 tn Heb “until you are left” (so NAB, NASB, NRSV).
