John 5:20-23

5:20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does, and will show him greater deeds than these, so that you will be amazed. 5:21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, ¹  so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes. ²  5:22 Furthermore, the Father does not judge ³  anyone, but has assigned ⁴  all judgment to the Son, 5:23 so that all people ⁵  will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

John 5:45

5:45 “Do not suppose that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have placed your hope. ⁶ 

John 12:47-48

12:47 If anyone ⁷  hears my words and does not obey them, ⁸  I do not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world. ⁹  12:48 The one who rejects me and does not accept ¹⁰  my words has a judge; ¹¹  the word ¹²  I have spoken will judge him at the last day.

This is again ironic if it is occurring at Pentecost, which at this time was being celebrated as the occasion of the giving of the Torah to Moses on Mt. Sinai. There is evidence that some Jews of the 1st century looked on Moses as their intercessor at the final judgment (see W. A. Meeks, The Prophet King [NovTSup], 161). This would mean the statement Moses, in whom you have placed your hope should be taken literally and relates directly to Jesus’ statements about the final judgment in John 5:28-29.
