13:1 When Joshua was very old, 1 the Lord told him, “You are very old, and a great deal of land remains to be conquered.

[13:1] 1 tn Heb “was old, coming into the days.” This expression, referring to advancing in years, also occurs in the following clause.
[25:8] 2 tn Heb “old and full.”
[25:8] 3 tn Heb “And he was gathered to his people.” In the ancient Israelite view he joined his deceased ancestors in Sheol, the land of the dead.
[31:2] 4 tn Or “am no longer able to lead you” (NIV, NLT); Heb “am no longer able to go out and come in.”
