1:25 But ¹  Jesus rebuked him: ²  “Silence! Come out of him!” ³

11:23 I tell you the truth, ⁴  if someone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

[1:25]  ¹ tn Grk “And.” Here καί (kai) has been translated as “but” to indicate the contrast present in this context.

[1:25]  ² tn Grk “rebuked him, saying.” The participle λέγων (legwn) is redundant in English and has not been translated.

[1:25]  ³ sn The command Come out of him! is an example of Jesus’ authority (see v. 32). Unlike other exorcists, Jesus did not use magical incantations nor did he invoke anyone else’s name.

[11:23]  ⁴ tn Grk “Truly (ἀμήν, amhn), I say to you.”

[13:5]  ⁷ tn Or “Be on guard.”
