6:35 When it was already late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is an isolated place 1  and it is already very late. 6:36 Send them away so that they can go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy something for themselves to eat.”

9:12 Now the day began to draw to a close, 2  so 3  the twelve came and said to Jesus, 4  “Send the crowd away, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging 5  and food, because we are in an isolated place.” 6

[6:35]  1 tn Or “a desert” (meaning a deserted or desolate area with sparse vegetation).

[9:12]  2 tn Grk “the day began to decline,” looking to the approach of sunset.

[9:12]  3 tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “so” to indicate that the disciples’ request was related to the approach of sunset.
