14:42 Do not go up, for the Lord is not among you, and you will be ¹  defeated before your enemies.

Joshua 7:12-13

7:12 The Israelites are unable to stand before their enemies; they retreat because they have become subject to annihilation. ²  I will no longer be with you, ³  unless you destroy what has contaminated you. ⁴  7:13 Get up! Ritually consecrate the people and tell them this: ‘Ritually consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, because the Lord God of Israel says, “You are contaminated, ⁵  O Israel! You will not be able to stand before your enemies until you remove what is contaminating you.” ⁶ 

Jude 1:14

[7:12]  ³ tn The second person pronoun is plural in Hebrew, indicating these words are addressed to the entire nation.

[1:14]  ⁸ tn Grk “against them.” The dative τούτοις (toutois) is a dativus incommodi (dative of disadvantage).

[1:14]  ⁹ tn Grk “has come,” a proleptic aorist.

[1:14]  ¹⁰ tn Grk “ten thousands.” The word μυριάς (muria"), from which the English myriad is derived, means “ten thousand.” In the plural it means “ten thousands.” This would mean, minimally, 20,000 (a multiple of ten thousand). At the same time, the term was often used in apocalyptic literature to represent simply a rather large number, without any attempt to be specific.
