Psalms 71:18
Context71:18 Even when I am old and gray, 1
O God, do not abandon me,
until I tell the next generation about your strength,
and those coming after me about your power. 2
Isaiah 38:18-19
Context38:18 Indeed 3 Sheol does not give you thanks;
death does not 4 praise you.
Those who descend into the pit do not anticipate your faithfulness.
38:19 The living person, the living person, he gives you thanks,
as I do today.
A father tells his sons about your faithfulness.
[71:18] 1 tn Heb “and even unto old age and gray hair.”
[71:18] 2 tn Heb “until I declare your arm to a generation, to everyone who comes your power.” God’s “arm” here is an anthropomorphism that symbolizes his great strength.

[38:18] 4 tn The negative particle is understood by ellipsis in this line. See GKC 483 §152.z.
