[72:5]  1 tn In this context “fear” probably means “to demonstrate respect for the Lord’s power and authority by worshiping him and obeying his commandments.” See Ps 33:8. Some interpreters, with the support of the LXX, prefer to read וְיַאֲרִיךְ (vÿaarikh, “and he [the king in this case] will prolong [days]”), that is, “will live a long time” (cf. NIV, NRSV).

[72:5]  2 tn God is the addressee (see vv. 1-2).

[72:5]  3 tn Heb “with [the] sun, and before [the] moon [for] a generation, generations.” The rare expression דּוֹר דּוֹרִים (dor dorim, “generation, generations”) occurs only here, in Ps 102:24, and in Isa 51:8.

[89:28]  4 tn Heb “forever I will keep for him my loyal love and will make my covenant secure for him.”

[89:29]  5 tn Heb “and I will set in place forever his offspring.”

[89:29]  6 tn Heb “and his throne like the days of the heavens.”

[65:20]  7 tn Heb “and there will not be from there again a nursing infant of days,” i.e., one that lives just a few days.

[65:20]  8 tn Heb “or an old [man] who does not fill out his days.”

[65:20]  9 tn Heb “for the child as a son of one hundred years will die.” The point seems to be that those who die at the age of a hundred will be considered children, for the average life span will be much longer than that. The category “child” will be redefined in light of the expanded life spans that will characterize this new era.

[65:20]  10 tn Heb “the one who misses.” חָטָא (khata’) is used here in its basic sense of “miss the mark.” See HALOT 305 s.v. חטא. Another option is to translate, “and the sinner who reaches the age of a hundred will be cursed.”

[20:6]  11 tn Grk “who has a share.”

[20:6]  12 tn The shift from the singular pronoun (“the one”) to the plural (“them”) in the passage reflects the Greek text: The singular participle ὁ ἔχων (Jo ecwn) is followed by the plural pronoun τούτων (toutwn). In the interests of English style, this is obscured in most modern translations except the NASB.
