The Seventh Trumpet

11:15 Then ⁵  the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven saying:

“The kingdom of the world

has become the kingdom of our Lord

and of his Christ, ⁶ 

and he will reign for ever and ever.”

11:16 Then ⁷  the twenty-four elders who are seated on their thrones before God threw themselves down with their faces to the ground ⁸  and worshiped God 11:17 with these words: ⁹ 

“We give you thanks, Lord God, the All-Powerful, ¹⁰ 

the one who is and who was,

because you have taken your great power

and begun to reign. ¹¹

[82:6]  ³ sn Normally in the OT the title Most High belongs to the God of Israel, but in this context, where the mythological overtones are so strong, it probably refers to the Canaanite high god El (see v. 1, as well as Isa 14:13).
