35:17 O Lord, how long are you going to just stand there and watch this? ¹ 

Rescue ²  me ³  from their destructive attacks;

guard my life ⁴  from the young lions!

[35:17]  ⁴ tn Heb “my only one.” The psalmist may mean that his life is precious, or that he feels isolated and alone (see Ps 22:20). The verb “guard” is supplied in the translation, because the verb “rescue” is understood by ellipsis (see the previous line).

[80:4]  ⁵ tn Heb “Lord, God, hosts.” One expects the construct form אֱלֹהֵי (’elohey) before צְבָאוֹת (tsÿva’ot; “hosts”; see Ps 89:9), but יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים (yehvah ’elohim) precedes צְבָאוֹת (tsÿva’ot) in Pss 59:5 and 84:8 as well. In this context the term “hosts” (meaning “armies”) has been rendered “invincible warrior.”

[80:4]  ⁶ tn Heb “How long will you remain angry during the prayer of your people.” Some take the preposition -בְּ (bet) in an adversative sense here (“at/against the prayer of your people”), but the temporal sense is preferable. The psalmist expects persistent prayer to pacify God.

[104:33]  ⁹ tn Heb “in my duration.”

[116:2]  ¹³ tn Heb “because he turned his ear to me.”

[116:2]  ¹⁴ tn Heb “and in my days I will cry out.”
