[53:4]  1 tn Heb “the workers of wickedness.” See Pss 5:5; 6:8. Ps 14:4 adds כֹּל (kol, “all of”) before “workers of wickedness.”

[53:4]  2 tn Heb “Do they not understand?” The rhetorical question expresses the psalmist’s amazement at their apparent lack of understanding. This may refer to their lack of moral understanding, but it more likely refers to their failure to anticipate God’s defense of his people (see vv. 5-6).

[1:29]  3 tn The causal particle תַּחַת כִּי (takhat ki, “for the reason that”) introduces a second accusation of sin and reason for punishment.

[1:29]  4 tn Heb “knowledge.” The noun דָעַת (daat, “knowledge”) refers to moral knowledge. See note on 1:7.

[1:29]  5 tn Heb “the fear of the Lord.” The noun is an objective genitive; the Lord is to be the object of fear. See note on 1:7.

[3:1]  6 tn Heb “heads.”

[3:1]  7 tn Heb “house.”

[3:1]  8 tn Heb “Should you not know justice?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “Of course you should!”

[1:28]  9 tn Grk “and just as they did not approve to have God in knowledge.”

[1:28]  10 tn Grk “the things that are improper.”
