Context11:9 For three and a half days those from every 1 people, tribe, 2 nation, and language will look at their corpses, because they will not permit them to be placed in a tomb. 3

[11:9] 2 tn The Greek term καί (kai) has not been translated before this and the following items in the list, since English normally uses a coordinating conjunction only between the last two elements in a series of three or more.

[79:2] 4 tn Heb “[as] food for the birds of the sky.”
[79:3] 5 tn Heb “they have poured out their blood like water, all around Jerusalem, and there is no one burying.”

[26:23] 7 sn The burial place of the common people was the public burial grounds, distinct from the family tombs, where poor people without any distinction were buried. It was in the Kidron Valley east of Jerusalem (2 Kgs 23:6). The intent of reporting this is to show the ruthlessness of Jehoiakim.
