Revelation 14:13

14:13 Then ¹  I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this:

‘Blessed are the dead,

those who die in the Lord from this moment on!’”

“Yes,” says the Spirit, “so they can rest from their hard work, ²  because their deeds will follow them.” ³ 

Isaiah 26:20-21

26:20 Go, my people! Enter your inner rooms!

Close your doors behind you!

Hide for a little while,

until his angry judgment is over! ⁴ 

26:21 For look, the Lord is coming out of the place where he lives, ⁵ 

to punish the sin of those who live on the earth.

The earth will display the blood shed on it;

it will no longer cover up its slain. ⁶ 

Daniel 12:13

12:13 But you should go your way ⁷  until the end. ⁸  You will rest and then at the end of the days you will arise to receive ⁹  what you have been allotted.” ¹⁰ 

[14:13]  ¹ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence within the narrative.

[14:13]  ² tn Or “from their trouble” (L&N 22.7).

[14:13]  ³ tn Grk “their deeds will follow with them.”

[26:20]  ⁴ tn Heb “until anger passes by.”

[26:21]  ⁵ tn Heb “out of his place” (so KJV, ASV).

[26:21]  ⁶ sn This implies that rampant bloodshed is one of the reasons for divine judgment. See the note at 24:5.

[12:13]  ¹⁰ sn The deuterocanonical writings known as the Story of Susanna and Bel and the Dragon appear respectively as chapters 13 and 14 of the book of Daniel in the Greek version of this book. Although these writings are not part of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of Daniel, they were popular among certain early communities who valued traditions about the life of Daniel.
