Proverbs 8:34

8:34 Blessed is the one ²  who listens to me,

watching ³  at my doors day by day,

waiting ⁴  beside my doorway. ⁵ 

Daniel 12:12-13

12:12 Blessed is the one who waits and attains to the 1,335 days. 12:13 But you should go your way ⁶  until the end. ⁷  You will rest and then at the end of the days you will arise to receive ⁸  what you have been allotted.” ⁹ 

Luke 11:28

11:28 But he replied, ¹⁰  “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey ¹¹  it!”

[22:7]  ¹ sn These lines are parenthetical, forming an aside to the narrative. The speaker here is the Lord Jesus Christ himself rather than the narrator.

[8:34]  ² tn Heb “the man.”

[8:34]  ³ tn The form לִשְׁקֹד (lishqod) is the infinitive construct serving epexegetically in the sentence. It explains how the person will listen to wisdom.

[8:34]  ⁴ tn Heb “keeping” or “guarding.”

[8:34]  ⁵ tn Heb “at the posts of my doors” (so KJV, ASV).

[12:13]  ⁶ tn The words “your way” are not in the Hebrew text, but are implied.

[12:13]  ⁸ tn The word “receive” is added in the translation for clarification.

[12:13]  ⁹ sn The deuterocanonical writings known as the Story of Susanna and Bel and the Dragon appear respectively as chapters 13 and 14 of the book of Daniel in the Greek version of this book. Although these writings are not part of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of Daniel, they were popular among certain early communities who valued traditions about the life of Daniel.

[11:28]  ¹¹ sn This is another reference to hearing and doing the word of God, which here describes Jesus’ teaching; see Luke 8:21.
