So I will weep with sorrow for Moab. I will cry out in sadness for all of Moab. I will moan for the people of Kir Heres.

So my heart moans for Moab like a flute playing a funeral song. Yes, like a flute playing a funeral song, my heart moans for the people of Kir Heres. For the wealth they have gained will perish.

Stop putting your confidence in the false belief that says, “We are safe! The temple of the Lord is here! The temple of the Lord is here! The temple of the Lord is here!”

“Do not get married and do not have children here in this land.

“You say, ‘The Lord has raised up prophets of good news for us here in Babylon.’

So here is what the Lord has to say about Israel and Judah.

The Lord continued, “Now break the jar in front of those who have come here with you.

Yes, here is what he says: “You hear cries of panic and of terror; there is no peace in sight.

Then the king gave Ebed Melech the Ethiopian the following order: “Take thirty men with you from here and go pull the prophet Jeremiah out of the cistern before he dies.”

Yet in days to come I will reverse Moab’s ill fortune.” says the Lord. The judgment against Moab ends here.

But if you refuse to surrender, the Lord has shown me a vision of what will happen. Here is what I saw:
