So they proposed two candidates: Joseph called Barsabbas (also called Justus) and Matthias.

And then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

They called out to ask if Simon, known as Peter, was staying there as a guest.

They continued to stone Stephen while he prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”

and here he has authority from the chief priests to imprison all who call on your name!”

Now send men to Joppa and summon a man named Simon, who is called Peter.

So Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem when they had completed their mission, bringing along with them John Mark.

And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.’

Then, after conferring with his council, Festus replied, “You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you will go!”

Agrippa said to Festus, “This man could have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar.”

But when the Jews objected, I was forced to appeal to Caesar – not that I had some charge to bring against my own people.

So Joseph, a Levite who was a native of Cyprus, called by the apostles Barnabas (which is translated “son of encouragement”),

Therefore send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter. This man is staying as a guest in the house of Simon the tanner, by the sea.’

When Peter realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many people had gathered together and were praying.

But when Paul appealed to be kept in custody for the decision of His Majesty the Emperor, I ordered him to be kept under guard until I could send him to Caesar.”

But I found that he had done nothing that deserved death, and when he appealed to His Majesty the Emperor, I decided to send him.

All who heard him were amazed and were saying, “Is this not the man who in Jerusalem was ravaging those who call on this name, and who had come here to bring them as prisoners to the chief priests?”

He informed us how he had seen an angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter,

so that the rest of humanity may seek the Lord, namely, all the Gentiles I have called to be my own,’ says the Lord, who makes these things

If then I am in the wrong and have done anything that deserves death, I am not trying to escape dying, but if not one of their charges against me is true, no one can hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”
