But they said, “Not during the feast, so that there won’t be a riot among the people.”

After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.

‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me,

In reply all the people said, “Let his blood be on us and on our children!”

She will give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people met together in the palace of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas.

When it was early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to execute him.

‘And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are in no way least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.

Now after Jesus entered the temple courts, the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”

While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent by the chief priests and elders of the people.

So give orders to secure the tomb until the third day. Otherwise his disciples may come and steal his body and say to the people, ‘He has been raised from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

For the heart of this people has become dull; they are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’
