But Peter began and explained it to them point by point, saying,

But they said to her, “You’ve lost your mind!” But she kept insisting that it was Peter, and they kept saying, “It is his angel!”

But others jeered at the speakers, saying, “They are drunk on new wine!”

Yet the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands, as the prophet says,

saying, “You went to uncircumcised men and shared a meal with them.”

I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter; slaughter and eat!’

Therefore he also says in another psalm, ‘You will not permit your Holy One to experience decay.’

Even by saying these things, they scarcely persuaded the crowds not to offer sacrifice to them.

saying, “This man is persuading people to worship God in a way contrary to the law!”

So Paul said, “Into what then were you baptized?” “Into John’s baptism,” they replied.

Those standing near him said, “Do you dare insult God’s high priest?”

Some were convinced by what he said, but others refused to believe.

After the reading from the law and the prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent them a message, saying, “Brothers, if you have any message of exhortation for the people, speak it.”

when he said, ‘Go to this people and say, “You will keep on hearing, but will never understand, and you will keep on looking, but will never perceive.

Then they prayed, “Lord, you know the hearts of all. Show us which one of these two you have chosen

Completely baffled, they said, “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?

All were astounded and greatly confused, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people.

Then they secretly instigated some men to say, “We have heard this man speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

They continued to stone Stephen while he prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”
