So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.

And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and the one who dwells in it.

Now when God made his promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself,

And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar is bound by nothing. But if anyone swears by the gift on it he is bound by the oath.’

And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and the one who sits on it.

the oath that he swore to our ancestor Abraham. This oath grants

“As I swore in my anger, ‘They will never enter my rest!’”

“Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple is bound by nothing. But whoever swears by the gold of the temple is bound by the oath.’

But I say to you, do not take oaths at all – not by heaven, because it is the throne of God,

Do not take an oath by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black.

At that he began to curse, and he swore with an oath, “I do not know the man!” At that moment a rooster crowed.

He swore to her, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”

Then he began to curse, and he swore with an oath, “I do not know this man you are talking about!”

And to whom did he swear they would never enter into his rest, except those who were disobedient?

For people swear by something greater than themselves, and the oath serves as a confirmation to end all dispute.

So then, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne,

but Jesus did so with a sworn affirmation by the one who said to him, “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever’” –

For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, “As I swore in my anger, ‘They will never enter my rest!’” And yet God’s works were accomplished from the foundation of the world.

And above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath. But let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall into judgment.

and swore by the one who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, and the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, “There will be no more delay!
