nor are all the children Abraham’s true descendants; rather “through Isaac will your descendants be counted.”

Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his descendant. Scripture does not say, “and to the descendants,” referring to many, but “and to your descendant,” referring to one, who is Christ.

None of the seven had children. Finally, the woman died too.

From the descendants of this man God brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, just as he promised.

concerning his Son who was a descendant of David with reference to the flesh,

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David; such is my gospel,

For surely his concern is not for angels, but he is concerned for Abraham’s descendants.

God had told him, “Through Isaac descendants will carry on your name,”

He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man.

There were seven brothers. The first one married, and when he died he had no children.

The second married her and died without any children, and likewise the third.

as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

But God gives it a body just as he planned, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I.

He presented them with another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a person who sowed good seed in his field.

So the slaves of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?’

It is like a mustard seed that when sown in the ground, even though it is the smallest of all the seeds in the ground –

Don’t the scriptures say that the Christ is a descendant of David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”

“We are descendants of Abraham,” they replied, “and have never been anyone’s slaves! How can you say, ‘You will become free’?”
