It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him.

Now when it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.

When it was already late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is an isolated place and it is already very late.

Then Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. And after looking around at everything, he went out to Bethany with the twelve since it was already late.

“But as for that day or hour no one knows it – neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son – except the Father.

Going a little farther, he threw himself to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour would pass from him.

Then he came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you stay awake for one hour?

When they arrest you and hand you over for trial, do not worry about what to speak. But say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

Around three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

He came a third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough of that! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
