So they began to discuss with one another about having no bread.

Now they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

Now Jesus went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat.

When he learned of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Have your hearts been hardened?

While they were eating, he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take it. This is my body.”

Then he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. After he took the seven loaves and gave thanks, he broke them and began giving them to the disciples to serve. So they served the crowd.
