Brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against parents and have them put to death.

“Teacher, Moses wrote for us: ‘If a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, that man must marry the widow and father children for his brother.’

He answered them and said, “Who are my mother and my brothers?”

For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

For John had repeatedly told Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

There were seven brothers. The first one married, and when he died he had no children.

As he went along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).

Going on a little farther, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother in their boat mending nets.

to James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, he gave the name Boanerges (that is, “sons of thunder”);

Then Jesus’ mother and his brothers came. Standing outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.

A crowd was sitting around him and they said to him, “Look, your mother and your brothers are outside looking for you.”

And looking at those who were sitting around him in a circle, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers!

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.

Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us?” And so they took offense at him.

For Herod himself had sent men, arrested John, and bound him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because Herod had married her.

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, there is no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the gospel

who will not receive in this age a hundred times as much – homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, fields, all with persecutions – and in the age to come, eternal life.
