as sorrowful, but always rejoicing, as poor, but making many rich, as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

A certain one of them, in fact, one of their own prophets, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

Therefore, I intend to remind you constantly of these things even though you know them and are well established in the truth that you now have.

“You stubborn people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors did!

For we who are alive are constantly being handed over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our mortal body.

“Therefore, I became provoked at that generation and said, ‘Their hearts are always wandering and they have not known my ways.’

But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess.
