Then he said to them, “Do you still not understand?”

But Jesus turned and rebuked them,

I made known your name to them, and I will continue to make it known, so that the love you have loved me with may be in them, and I may be in them.”

And he placed his hands on them and went on his way.

Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him.

(They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.)

Jesus replied, “Do you now believe?

But Peter began and explained it to them point by point, saying,

But he replied, “They don’t need to go. You give them something to eat.”

Jesus ordered them not to tell anything. But as much as he ordered them not to do this, they proclaimed it all the more.

because what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.

But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said, “Should we go and buy bread for two hundred silver coins and give it to them to eat?”

Then little children were brought to him for him to lay his hands on them and pray. But the disciples scolded those who brought them.

Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and the demonic spirits begged Jesus to let them go into them. He gave them permission.

Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than, having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment that had been delivered to them.

He said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.”

And you will be brought before governors and kings because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.

But he sternly warned them not to make him known.

Then the disciples came to him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”
