Then some of the experts in the law said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming!”

Then the disciples came to him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”

What is your verdict?” They answered, “He is guilty and deserves death.”

“In Bethlehem of Judea,” they said, “for it is written this way by the prophet:

Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They replied, “Seven – and a few small fish.”

They answered, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said, “What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”

But when the Pharisees saw this they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is against the law to do on the Sabbath.”

After they arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Your teacher pays the double drachma tax, doesn’t he?”

So they answered Jesus, “We don’t know.” Then he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’

Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all the disciples said the same thing.

and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

The chief priests took the silver and said, “It is not lawful to put this into the temple treasury, since it is blood money.”

The governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

and said to him, “Do you hear what they are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of children and nursing infants you have prepared praise for yourself’?”

But the rest said, “Leave him alone! Let’s see if Elijah will come to save him.”
