“Bring them here to me,” he replied.

The father went to the other son and said the same thing. This boy answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but did not go.

And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you throw yourself to the ground and worship me.”

“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”

Then he called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand.

But Peter said to him, “Explain this parable to us.”

Jesus said, “Even after all this, are you still so foolish?

He answered, “Elijah does indeed come first and will restore all things.

Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them about John the Baptist.

The boy answered, ‘I will not.’ But later he had a change of heart and went.

Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying:

Jesus answered them, “Watch out that no one misleads you.

But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I do not know you!’

Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi,” and kissed him.

Then an expert in the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

When Jesus saw their reaction he said, “Why do you respond with evil in your hearts?

When Jesus heard this he said, “Those who are healthy don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do.

Jesus answered them, “Go tell John what you hear and see:

He said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –
