And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.

Then Moses and Elijah also appeared before them, talking with him.

He answered, “Elijah does indeed come first and will restore all things.

Then Elijah appeared before them along with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.

Then two men, Moses and Elijah, began talking with him.

Others said, “He is Elijah.” Others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets from the past.”

But I tell you that Elijah has certainly come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.”

Yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to a woman who was a widow at Zarephath in Sidon.

while others were saying that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had risen.

Then someone ran, filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Leave him alone! Let’s see if Elijah will come to take him down!”

So they asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not!” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No!”

So they asked John, “Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

Elijah was a human being like us, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain and there was no rain on the land for three years and six months!

And I tell you that Elijah has already come. Yet they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man will suffer at their hands.”

But the rest said, “Leave him alone! Let’s see if Elijah will come to save him.”
