How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to them?

I fear for you that my work for you may have been in vain.

When the disciples saw it they were amazed, saying, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”

He said to them, “How then does David by the Spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying,

If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”

You snakes, you offspring of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

How then would the scriptures that say it must happen this way be fulfilled?”

Those who had seen it told them how the man who had been demon-possessed had been healed.

He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you understand it?”

I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is finished!

But he said to them, “How is it that they say that the Christ is David’s son?

If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”

Nicodemus replied, “How can these things be?”

But if you do not believe what Moses wrote, how will you believe my words?”

Then the Jewish leaders were astonished and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?”

So they asked him, “How then were you made to see?”

Then they said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he cause you to see?”

Thus the people who had come to mourn said, “Look how much he loved him!”

And how is it that each one of us hears them in our own native language?

Absolutely not! For otherwise how could God judge the world?
