And a voice came from heaven: “You are my one dear Son; in you I take great delight.”

“I tell you, stand up, take your stretcher, and go home.”

Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”

For John had repeatedly told Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

He swore to her, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”

Peter began to speak to him, “Look, we have left everything to follow you!”

“Leave us alone, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!”

Then, gently taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up.”

Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied, “Rabbi, let me see again.”

and said, “By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, today – this very night – before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all of them said the same thing.

He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. So they came to Jesus and said, “Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”

But he was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. They woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are about to die?”

Then he cried out with a loud voice, “Leave me alone, Jesus, Son of the Most High God! I implore you by God – do not torment me!”

But Jesus did not permit him to do so. Instead, he said to him, “Go to your home and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, that he had mercy on you.”

When his daughter Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you.”

So Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three shelters – one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

Now when Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”
